Sanjay Aggarwal is a former Managing Director at Citibank based in Singapore.

Over a 33-year career with Citibank, Sanjay has started and developed several new businesses in the area of structured finance, including real estate finance. In his most recent role, he was a Level 2 Senior Credit Officer and Head of Underwriting for Real Estate and Securitization, leading a team of underwriters across Asia Pacific. This team has been responsible for underwriting many innovative transactions led by global financial sponsors, Fintech lenders and non-bank financial institutions. Some of these transactions include financing the acquisition of the largest data centre company in Asia Pacific, as well as the financing of new or developing asset classes such as student housing, self-storage and gaming. More traditional asset classes have included hospitality assets, retail malls and offices.

In terms of securitized lending, the team has been a leader across residential mortgage-backed securitization in the region. Sanjay’s experience also includes leading the first CMBS in China, acquisition of a large office REIT in Australia, and perhaps the first onshore + offshore financing structure in China which has since become a market standard.

Outside of real estate financing, Sanjay led the fund finance team in Citi which was the industry leader across Asia. He has also been the Southern Asia Head of Lending to private bank clients, including margin lending, residential and commercial real estate, and highly specialized aircraft and art lending.

Sanjay graduated with an MBA from Boston University and a BSc (Honours) in Engineering from City, University of London.
